Once your braces are in place, he’ll make your first adjustment, tightening your braces to encourage your teeth to move into the proper positions. Then, you’ll be sent home.
Most patients need an adjustment every 4-6 weeks. During this appointment, Dr. Carter will check your progress and make sure everything looks good. Then, he’ll adjust your braces to help shift your teeth into a healthier position. You’ll keep coming back for regular check-ups for the rest of your treatment, which takes 18-24 months, on average.

Metal braces are silver in color, and often have colored elastics. This makes them very obvious. Ceramic braces can still be seen by others, but they're more discreet. They will blend in with your natural teeth. That means they won’t affect your appearance as much, and you’ll look and feel more natural in your day-to-day life.
